OUR CODE
what we value
Our pursuit to become a spirit-led, missional-shaped, Gospel-fueled, multiethnic community is guided by four values that are rooted in the Great Commandment, Great Commission, and the Great Calling of Jesus in Matthew 22:37-40; 28:19-20; John 15:12, John 4:23-24; and Acts 1:8.
1. UPWARD
We love God completely.
Our quest is to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength because everything we aim to do with our life will flow from our abiding relationship with him. Matthew 22:37-40
2. INWARD
We love ourselves correctly.
We aim to see ourselves as God sees us. In discovering our identity, we learn to define ourselves by the truth of God’s word rather than the thinking of this world. Philemon 1:6
3. OUTWARD
We love others compassionately.
It’s our priority to express God’s love on the horizontal to all people. It’s only in loving and doing life with those who are similar and different than us that we see the reflection of God’s beauty and the gift of reconciliation. 1 John 4:7; John 15:12
4. ONWARD
We encounter culture without compromising the gospel.
Our passion is to turn seekers into followers, followers into leaders, and leaders into disciple-makers. We believe only people who have been transformed by the gospel can truly transform the world. Acts 1:8
OUR ID
We are a spirit-led, missional-shaped, Gospel-fueled multiethnic community.
OUR WHY
Our mission is to nurture people towards the truth and to love them with the radical love of Jesus.
(We measure our faithfulness to this mission by our ability to create a place where those who are far from and near to God can fit in and live out the great commandment, the great commission, and the great calling as missionaries transformed by Jesus.)
OUR AGENDA
We exist to love people to life.
OUR SYSTEM
- Everything we do flows from compassion and our love for all people [no matter their age, ethnicity, religion, or socioeconomic status]. Matthew 14:13-14
- We rely on our grace story because our greatest tool for evangelism begins with the story of how God transformed our life. John 4:39
- We are givers rather than grabbers and producers rather than consumers. Acts 20:35; 2 Corinthians 9:7; *Luke 6:38; *Hebrews 13:16
- We don’t have a missions department because as Christ followers we aim to carry the mission of God into every sphere of our lives. Acts 1:8
- We believe being with God (intimacy) must always precede doing things for God (ministry). John 15:5
- Irrational generosity, unreasonable hospitality, and radical love is our response. Acts 2:45
OUR BLUEPRINT
OUR BELIEFS
GOD
The One
There is one God who is infinitely perfect, existing eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 5:48;28:19).
GOD’S WORD
The Bible
The Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired of God and are the revelation of God to man. It is infallible and the final authority on all things (2 Timothy 3:1517; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Peter 1:21).
GOD’S FLAWED IMAGE
Man
Man was originally created in the image and likeness of God. He fell through disobedience and incurred both physical and spiritual death. All men are born with a sinful nature and separated from the life of God, and can be saved only through the atoning work of the Lord Jesus Christ (Genesis 1:27; Romans 3:23; 1 Corinthians15:20–23).
GOD’S FLAWLESS IMAGE
Jesus Christ
The Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. He was 100% God and 100% man. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for mankind and rose from the dead on the third day. He ascended to the right hand of the Father and will return again in power and glory (Hebrews 7:26; Luke 1:30-35; Acts 1:9; 1 Corinthians 15:3).
GOD’S PLAN
Salvation
Salvation has been provided by the grace of God through Jesus Christ for all men; and those who repent and believe in Him are born again of the Holy Spirit, receive the gift of eternal life, and become the children of God (Titus 3:4–7).
GOD’S PEOPLE
The Church
The Church consists of all those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, are redeemed through His blood, are born again of the Holy Spirit, and who are on a mission to make more disciples. (Matthew 28:19–20)
GOD’S MISSION
Missional living
God sent Jesus into the world to accomplish His mission to call creation back to its Creator. God then sent the Holy Spirit as a gift into the world to further that same mission. The sending enterprise of Creator God throughout the narrative of Scripture doesn’t stop with the Sent Christ or the Sent Helper, but a Sent people. God’s mission has become every believer’s mission. It is the duty and privilege of every follower of Christ to seek constantly to witness to others, win the lost, and make disciples of all nations. It is our first calling. (John 14: 26;17:18; 20:21; Acts 1:8)
GOD’S GIFT
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is a divine person sent as a gift to the church. The Spirit indwells, fills, guides, teaches, empowers the believer, and convinces the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment (John 14:15-18; 16:7–13; Acts 1:8; 2:38).
GOD’S STRATEGY
Spiritual Gifts
The Holy Spirit is manifested through a variety of spiritual gifts that empower the believer to accomplish the commandment of Jesus to go into the world and make disciples. At the foundation of every spiritual gift is love. Gifts were created out of love and must flow through love in order to make its greatest impact. The laying of hands, healing, prophecy, wisdom, helping, faith, and the working of miracles are only a few of the gifts and always operate in harmony with the Scriptures. All believers are commanded to earnestly desire the manifestation of all the gifts in their lives. (Mark 16:17-18;1 Corinthians 7:7; 12:4-11,31)
GOD’S RETURN
Resurrection and Restoration
There shall be a bodily resurrection of the just and of the unjust; for the former, a resurrection unto life for the latter, a resurrection unto judgment (John 5:28–29; 1 Corinthians 15:20–23).
